Who We Are
Sven has over 20 years of global experience in Corporate Strategy, Marketing, Sales, External Affairs and Brand Protection. He had global assignments on three continents as an internal and external advisor to Fortune 500 companies on these issues, working on some of the most recognized and valuable brands in the world, such as BMW, Absolute Vodka and Marlboro. Over the years he has been a trusted advisor to Corporate Boards, Senior Management and Governments in the U.S. and across the globe.
Before becoming a Managing Partner for Venture Global, Sven was an Executive with Altria for over 10 years. In his most recent assignment, he led External & Government Affairs for Altria’s Brand Protection Group, where he engaged with industry partners and government officials to shape trademark protection and enforcement policy in the United States and abroad. During his tenure, he became a leading voice and trusted advisor on illicit trade issues for Governments, Chambers of Commerce, Trade Associations and Industry. His accomplishments include building effective coalitions to influence the Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator of the White House and ensuring the passage of landmark federal and state anti-illicit trade legislation. During his tenure at Altria, Sven led various Sales, Marketing and Business Development functions and projects. As part of these assignments he identified, developed and built new business units. He introduced innovative new product categories, launched profitable businesses, developed successful acquisition strategies and established business incubators.
Sven started his career as a classically trained marketer working on some of the most recognized and valuable brands in the world, such as BMW, Absolute Vodka and Marlboro. Born in Munich, Germany, Sven received a BA and MBA in Business and Marketing from the University Pforzheim and Indiana University.
Director of Legislative Affairs and Advocacy: Nikki Semenza
Nikki is based in DC and manages legislative affairs and advocacy development for Venture Global across our network of clients. Nikki is our resident expert for Government Affairs, Public Health Policy and Advocacy
Prior to Venture Global, Nikki Semenza was the Public Policy Manager for the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA) advocating for CADCA’s legislative priorities in Congress. Nikki came to DC for a legislative fellowship with Women’s Congressional Policy Institute (WCPI), serving with Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-40). Before moving to DC with her husband, she was a Research Associate at the UConn Rudd Center on Food Policy and Obesity in charge of qualitative and quantitative research projects. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Connecticut and a Master’s in Social Work (Public Policy concentration) from the University of Connecticut.
